Love Letter - Forgiveness

by Sharyn Culp
Inspired by Holy Spirit

"Forgiveness"
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him,
that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven

forgive your trespasses"  (Mark 11:25:26, NKJV).

Let's face it. At times we all have experienced "feeling stuck" in our journey towards our destiny. Maybe that's how you feel right now, simply put, "stuck". Jesus came to give us life and life abundant!  Without a doubt it is not His will for you to be "stuck" where you are in life, feeling like you are going nowhere, wandering around in the wilderness and not living the fruitful, overflowing, abundant, successful life Jesus purchased for you on Calvary. He paid a blood covenant price for you to be blessed with His best! Amen.

John 10:10 (NKJV)
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Titus 3:6 (NKJV)
" whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior",

Loved Ones, truly our deepest passion is Jesus's passion – to set the captives free! He came to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8 (NKJV)
"He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."

Is there an area of your life you feel the enemy, Satan, is holding you captive?  Do you feel you are "stuck" in bondage?  May we ask you another question? Could the "weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us" be distracting you? Could the "weight and sin" standing in your way preventing you from moving forward in your "destiny journey" be unforgiveness? Are you harboring anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness or another negative emotion against Jesus, a family member, a minister, an employer, a co-worker, a friend or yourself? Has someone treated you unjustly, deeply offended you, or perhaps betrayed you? If you are going to move this "weight and sin that so easily besets us" out of your path and move forward, allow us to share some truths from God's Word about harboring anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, other negative emotions and "how to" overcome this "weight and sin that is easily besetting "distracting and hindering" you through forgiveness.

Ephesians 4:30-32 (NKJV)
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you".

Proverbs 19:11 (NKJV)
"The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression."

Proverbs 15:18 (GW)
"A hothead stirs up a fight, but one who holds his temper calms disputes."

Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV)
"Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins."

Hebrews 12:15 (NKJV)
"Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;"

Mark 11:25-26 (NKJV)
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."

Hebrews 12:1-3 (GW)
"Since we are surrounded by so many examples {of faith}, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God.
Think about Jesus, who endured opposition from sinners, so that you don't become tired and give up."

God's Word is sharper than a two-edge sword and in His great love He tells us just "how it is" and "what we must do to be set free and stay free" – forgive. Amen. Is it really worth it to us to hold on to bitterness, strife, offense, contention, unforgiveness and other negative emotions? Is the cost worth it to our relationship with Jesus, our anointing - "the God" -  in us, our destiny establishing the Kingdom, one another, our marriages, our children and family, our co-laborers, our co-workers, our ministries, our businesses, our nation, our world, ourselves?  The price is high and we need to "weigh" just how costly it is. Ask Jesus and consider Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith who felt forgiveness was so important as He hung on the cruel cross of Calvary prayed, "Father, forgive them they know not what they do."

Luke 23:34 (NKJV)
" Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots".

We are not making light of your hurts and deep wounds in any way nor are we saying forgiveness is easy. What we are saying is forgiveness is a necessity if we are to be obedient and be "real" followers of Jesus. Forgiveness is a necessity if we are to live the fruitful, overflowing, successful lives Jesus purchased for us. Forgiveness is a necessity if we are to be in position to receive God's best! Amen.

Let's make a quality decision today to forgive. Keep in mind forgiveness, like love, is a decision. It is not based on feelings. With the help of Holy Spirit, let's take this "all important" step forward "by faith" that will set us free of any "weight and sin" that is so easily besetting us and move forward forgetting those things which are behind, putting them behind through forgiveness, putting them under the blood of Jesus forever, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead and press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
" Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14  I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Habakkuk 2:4 (NKJV)
4  "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith."

Loved Ones, let's pray:

The Prayer Of Forgiveness

5 Steps to the Prayer of Forgiveness

  1. You must forgive the person who has wronged you
  2. Ask God to forgive them
  3. Ask God to forgive you
  4. Release the emotions of the situation and the relationship to the Lord. Pray about the hurt, anger, resentment, rejection and any other negative emotions and release them in the presence of the Lord. Choose to let the hurt, anger, resentment, and any other negative emotions go when you pray.
  5. Forget it! Right there in your prayer, just forget it.

If you'll forget it in your prayer, the Holy Spirit will help you. This doesn't mean the relationship is automatically going to change; you have to understand that. There may still be things that have to be dealt with, but what you're dealing with in this prayer is your heart and keeping it clean and pure. When the Holy Spirit leads you to pray this way, do it! There's power in this kind of prayer.

***EVERY TIME THIS PERSON AND SITUATION COMES TO YOUR MIND, INSTEAD OF NURSING IT AND REHEARSING IT, IMMEDIATELY SAY, I FORGIVE, I FORGIVE, I FORGIVE. AMEN.

Unforgiveness is a sin, just ask God to forgive you.

"Father, first of all, I thank you that You showed me that this attitude was in my heart. I thank You, Father, that you love me and You showed me this. Father, I ask You to forgive ______________________________________________________________________ for what he/she did and  for how he/she acted, and for all the others who have been involved in this situation.

Father, I ask in faith and  out of the love of my heart and with all the sincerity of my heart You to forgive them and, Father, I forgive them. I forgive all those words they said, that hurt me. I forgive them, I ask you to forgive them, and together we let that go from their case.

Now Father, I ask you to forgive me. I came into this and I thought negatively about it. I have been angry about it and I have spoken angry words. I've harbored bitterness in my heart toward them and this situation  and I don't want it to go any farther. I don't want a root of bitterness to be in me. I know that I've said things in a wrong spirit and a wrong attitude about this person  and about these people and, Father, I ask you to forgive me. I call it sin. I have sinned against you and against them. I confess it, and I thank You that when I confess my sin, you are faithful and just to forgive me and to restore me. I thank You, Father, for the purity and the cleansing of Holy Spirit over my heart and mind and this relationship."

Choose to let the rejection, negative emotions and hurt go when you pray.

"Father, I thank you that You are healing me right now of those words and all the hurt. I don't want to come to you with self-pity, pride, negative emotions or hardness of heart toward you or anyone.

Father, I ask You to touch my heart. As an act of my will, I choose not to be hurt. I release the hurt, rejection, bitterness and all negative emotions in this relationship. Father, I bless those who curse me in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank You, Father, for Your power in my heart and mind that takes away hurt, rejection, bitterness and all bad, negative emotions. I receive Your power NOW. I HAVE IT NOW, and I thank You for it in Jesus' name. The feelings, the hurt, the damaged emotions in my life are touched right NOW by You Holy Spirit. I thank You for it. I receive it in Jesus' name. I refuse to accept hurt, anger, isolation, frustration, bitterness or any other negative emotions. I choose to be a gate keeper over my feelings from this day forward.

Thank You, Father, for the freedom and the flow of the Holy Spirit touching my heart and mind right now. I take it by faith, and I'm healed in my heart, my mind, and my soul. I look to You, Holy Spirit, as my Comforter."

Forgiving does involve forgetting. Pray in the Sprit if you want to and then say:

"Father, now that I've prayed about this, I leave it here in Your presence. I choose not to remember it. Holy Spirit, help me not to remember this ever again. It is finished. It is done. I forget it and place it under the blood of Jesus, because of Jesus' love and the love that You have placed in me in Jesus' name. Amen.

Holy Spirit, help me to walk this out. Help me, Father, because I still have to deal with some of these people; but now I can deal in purity and love and I don't have to deal out of hurt, bitterness, unforgiveness or hardness. I can walk in Your wisdom, purity, and love and walk through this relationship victoriously with your power. If the person has passed, ask Holy Spirit through the Spirit to help You forgive them and walk in Jesus' wisdom, purity and freedom throughout the rest of your life concerning this relationship victoriously with Jesus' power knowing you have given it to Holy Spirit.

I thank You, Father, for Your help in this relationship. In Jesus' name, I purpose with Your help to keep my heart right.  Thank You, Father, that now I can walk in forgiveness and the freedom Jesus purchased for me on Calvary. Let the forgiveness of Jesus' heart and words, Father, forgive them, they know not what they do continuously flow from my life. I thank You for it.

Satan, I rebuke you and your hold on my life. You cannot bind me in this situation in Jesus' name. I break the power of all rejection, unforgiveness and every evil force that has been released against me in Jesus' name. Thank You, Father, for victory in Jesus' name. Amen.
